A JUGENDzimmer for Villa Stuck & its „Fränzchen” program

Villa Stuck is a nationally and internationally renowned venue for encounters with art from the 19th to the 21st century. In order to increasingly appeal to children and young people, the museum has designed the art educational program "Fränzchen", where children and young people have the opportunity to be creative in various courses. The courses are also designed to activate their perceptual abilities and encourage them to learn independently with all their senses.

A wide variety of workshops are offered, which can also go on for a longer period of time, as well as courses for disadvantaged young people, underage refugees or intergenerational groups. The name JUGENDzimmer was inspired by the title of the magazine "Jugend", which was founded in Munich in 1896 by Georg Hirth and which gave its name to Jugendstil.

Under the title "Open JUGENDzimmer", the Museum Villa Stuck offers all visitors the opportunity to use a creative free space in the museum. For this purpose, the mediation room is always freely accessible during the museum's opening hours, unless occupied by a course, and can be used for playing, painting, handicrafts, reading, lingering and resting.

Thanks to generous donations, the Villa Stuck Museum was able to commission the redesign of the JUGENDzimmer. For the new design, we designed furniture that meets the special requirements of the room, as it can be adjusted in height in a simple way - in the twinkling of an eye - and thus works for both children and adults.

The furniture was designed modularly.

The furniture was designed modularly.

Light wood (maritime pine) was deliberately used in the designed furniture and the "Fränzchen" yellow laminate was used as an accent color, making the furniture washable. The wooden surface serves as a potential workbench, while the coated side can be used as a drawing surface. Natural colored felt became the seat cover for the stool and bench. We are pleased that the redesign of the room combined the designs of Holzrausch and BRANDINSPACE!
